What exactly is lamination and what advantages does it offer?

In our shop, you can find several models that are available with a fine linen, leather fiber, or art paper lamination. But what does that actually mean? In the following, we would like to give you a better understanding of the term lamination.

Lamination is, simply put, the bonding of a material with a covering material – in our case fine linen, leather fiber, or art paper. More precisely, a bookbinding board of various thicknesses is covered and glued with the respective material. For example, our high-quality packaging is always laminated to achieve exceptional stability and quality. Depending on the type of lamination, either individual printing or only embossing is possible. Fine linen or leather fiber, for instance, cannot be printed on but can be embossed, offering a very distinctive tactile feel. With us, you can always choose between hot foil embossing in various colors and blind embossing.

What are the advantages?

The greatest advantage of many laminations lies in the unique surface, which cannot be achieved with printable materials. Especially in combination with embossing, laminated folders appear subtly elegant compared to printed models and are therefore particularly suitable as high-quality presentation folders, hotel folders, or offer folders. Another advantage is the significantly lower cost for small quantities compared to printed models, where printing costs carry more weight. However, for larger quantities, printing becomes considerably more cost-effective.

So when should you opt for a laminated version? We recommend it on the one hand for smaller quantities, and on the other hand when you are looking for something more unique. We are happy to send out free material samples to help you make an informed and objective decision. If you want to stand out with a special design and a unique tactile experience, you should definitely choose a model in fine linen or leather fiber. However, it would be wrong to say that folders or binders with art paper are boring – they simply cannot match the tactile quality of our laminated materials. Nevertheless, a printed model can also look great if designed creatively and thoughtfully. So if you want to feel something special when holding the product in your hands, you should definitely choose a laminated option.
